Carla Tomas, CRNP, Geriatrics
Carla Tomas, CRNP, was born and raised in Western Pennsylvania. She attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania, obtaining a BSN and RN licensure in 1993. After graduation, Carla worked at Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh on a neurosurgery and trauma unit, coronary care unit, Cardiovascular ICU, trauma-burn ICU and medical ICU.
Carla next expanded her nursing experience to include teaching nursing students. She became a nursing clinical instructor at CCAC in 2001. In 2008, she earned her MSN with a specialization in education from Waynesburg University. She then took a full-time teaching position with CCAC while continuing to work part-time as a bedside nurse. In 2012, she accepted a full-time teaching position at Carlow University in Pittsburgh where she served as the course coordinator for the senior level critical care courses and leadership and management course. In 2019, Carla became the coordinator of the Saint Vincent College-Carlow University Collaborative BSN program in Latrobe, PA and still serves in this role.11
Carla completed her post-master’s certificate as a family nurse practitioner at Carlow University in 2020. She is currently pursuing her DNP at Carlow.
Carla enjoys spending time with her husband Dave, her two children, Adam and Maria, and her large extended family.
